Meet legendary Detroit horror host Count Scary at Windsor’s RetroRama: 1st EVER CON!

FIRST-EVER CONVENTION APPEARANCE! Windsor Comic Cons and GlassMonkey Studios proudly welcome the multi-talented Mr. Tom Ryan to RetroRama Classic Collectibles Con, Sunday Oct. 30th at Windsor’s Caboto Club! No stranger to Detroit/Windsor radio/TV, the Emmy and Clio award-winning, Motown-born Ryan has worn many hats in his career - including that of wacky horror host, Count Scary (not to mention his ultra-cool counterpart, Val Scary)! With the familiar catchphrase, "Ooh - that's scary!" Ryan's portrayal of The Count began in 1984 on Detroit's WDIV-TV (hosting 3D screenings of classic flicks like 'Gorilla At Large' and 'Revenge of the Creature') and continued to 'scare the pants off' viewers throughout the years as part of WKBD-TV's 'Shocktober' horror festival - and beyond. The character became an instant hit locally, and is still seen every Halloween around Detroit.

In addition, along with his legendary time as voice-man with Border Cities radio icon Dick Purtan (from 1964 to 1983, including five years at Windsor's CKLW from 1978-1983; and later, as lead host himself) Ryan then chalked-up more than 25-years as both a leading morning-man and drive-time-home host at Oldies 104.3 WOMC-FM.

Viewers may also remember Ryan for his role on a local children’s show on WKBD, Channel 50, called ‘The Captain Detroit Show’, where he played the part of Sgt. Sacto. The program aired from 1967 through 1970.

Renown for his multi-faceted charity work and love of the area, Ryan still resides in Michigan and is eagerly looking forward to his FIRST-EVER CONVENTION APPEARANCE!

Don't miss this chance to meet this iconic Windsor/Detroit superstar! Appearing 12-4 p.m. ONLY AT RETRORAMA CLASSIC COLLECTIBLES CON, SUNDAY, OCT. 30TH AT WINDSOR’S CABOTO CLUB!
